5K Run/Walk to raise funds
A young Washington boy, Gunner Brock, was recently diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. His family has organized a 5K Run/Walk to raise funds to find a cure for the disease on May 18 on the Washington square.
Registration will start at 8 a.m. and the run/walk at 9 a.m. It is a non-timed event to raise donations and awareness of cystic fibrosis.
Gunner's mother, Brianne Banger, said that her son and his twin brother were born Jan. 2, 2013, and he was diagnosed on March 11, 2013. His family has organized the team Deep Breaths for Gunner. The team is joining forces with a veteran Washington team called Team Rev It Up, which was organized by Marcy Stout, whose husband has the disease.
The organizers will also have a bake sale and a raffle on the day of the event. All proceeds will be given to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, where 90 cents on the dollar goes straight to research.
Persons with questions, who want to volunteer their time, and donate baked goods and/or raffle basket items, may contact Brianne at <email@example.com> or call her at 319-591-0853.
