Buckskinner Rendezvous scheduled
The Buckskinner Rendezvous on the front lawn of Halcyon House was a popular event last year and promises to be a bigger event this year.
Participants will dress up in 1870 frontier dress and will give demonstrations of many of the activities that occurred during the time period.
The hours of the event will be Sat. Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Among featured activities will be Meskwaki Native American dancing, old time church service, covered wagon rides, live musical entertainment, storytelling, pony rides, exhibits and an arts festival.
There will be several vendors offering a wide range of food.
Throughout the two days, children can participate in pioneer games, face painting, stringing beads, making Indian headbands, petting zoo, coloring contest, brain tanning, flint napping, basket weaving, turtle art and more.
