Accident information released
The Iowa State Patrol has released the names of three people involved in three separate car accidents on March 25.
Eric Sturm, 38, of Washington was driving a 2002 GMC Sierra northbound in the right lane on Highway 218 when he lost control of his vehicle due to the icy conditions on the roadway, the accident report from the Iowa State Patrol said. Sturm’s vehicle left the roadway and ended up overturned on its top in the median. Strum was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics by ambulance for unknown injuries from the accident. Sturm was wearing his seat belt at the time of his accident and wasn’t ticketed.
Jerry Coppage, 79, of Fort Madison, was driving a 2001 Grand Marquis northbound on Highway 218 when he lost control because of the icy conditions near Ainsworth, the accident report said. His vehicle lost control and struck the bridge wall on the west side of the roadway. Coppage’s vehicle came to a rest on the roadway. He was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Iowa City with non-incapacitating injuries due to the car accident. Coppage was wearing his seat belt at the time of his accident. He wasn’t ticketed for the accident, according to the accident report.
Kevin McCreedy, 39, of North Liberty, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Highway 218. He lost control and slid off the roadway to the right, the accident report said. His vehicle rolled onto its top striking an embankment then came back to rest on its wheels. McCreedy wasn’t injured in the accident but had damage to his vehicle. He was also wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident. He wasn’t cited for the accident, according to the accident report.
