Adventures in Waste & Recycling day camp held
The Washington County Extension Office held an “Adventures in Waste & Recycling” Day Camp on July 1, at the Extension Office. Three students attended the camp and started the day off with a tour of the Washington County Recycling Center from Jim Redlinger. They learned the history of the center, what types of items are brought there, and where the items go once they leave the recycling center. They also learned how to shop and save the environment at the same time by making Earth Friendly purchases. The students spent some time at Sunset Park picking up trash and examining what types of items were most commonly littered. Each student created a homemade, reused silverware wind chime and discussed other ways to reuse old items around the home.
The leader for the camp was day camp coordinator Jodi Ebert.
