Ainsworth Legion sets spring ceremony for WWI soldier
AINSWORTH — Members of Ainsworth’s James Harlan Thoma American Legion Post 351 have set Memorial Day next spring to honor their post's namesake.
Post members will present a new memorial stone to permanently honor “Jack” Thoma. He was a WWI artilleryman from Ainsworth who was killed in action in France’s Champagne Province about a month before the WWI Armistice Nov. 11, 1918. He is buried in France.
Post 351 had previously planned to hold the ceremony Nov. 10. However, the date has been changed to next spring as a convenience for those planning to attend.
