American Legion Post 29
Post 29 American Legion met at its regular date with Wayne Brock commanding. Jim Peterson, Adjutant, read the treasurer's report and noted that one member, Gene Anderson was lost to death this month.
Guest was Alvin Miller of Wellman who is First District Vice Commander. Wendel Guy reported on graveside services the post has conducted this past month, including two in one day . Lonny Milligan reported on food stands. The next auction will be Oct. 21. All post members are urged to help at these events.
Milligan also outlined the dinner which will be open to all area veterans and their spouses on Veterans Day, Nov 11. This event will be held at the National Guard Readiness Center at 6 p.m. Speaker will be Captain Cochran, representing the Gold Star museum in Camp Dodge.
An organizational meeting will be held at the F Troop museum on Oct. 17, with refreshments served. Bob Kennedy spoke of the national vice commander visiting Washington on Nov. 21, and proposed providing a luncheon for all in attendance.
The proposal of providing a flag pole to be erected at the new Kirkwood Center was discussed.
All area veterans are invited to attend American Legion meetings held the second Tuesday of the month at the Blair House at 7 p.m.
