Post 29 American Legion met at the Blair House with Robert Kennedy commanding. Jim Peterson, Adjutant, reported on treasurer's balance and number of renewals. One member, Ed Hutchcroft, was lost this past month.
Many plans were made for upcoming events: Memorial Day; the Fly-in breakfast for which the post will provide pancakes, sausage, eggs and drinks; the food stand at the auction barn; and at cruise nights around the square. Some post members will provide a short program at the UP Home and Halcyon House on Friday prior to Memorial Day.
The program was provided by Scoutmaster Kathy Fields of local Troop 242 who spoke of many activities her 21 Scouts participate in. One of her Scouts will become an Eagle Scout sometime this summer. The various projects are tree plantings in Marr Park, kayaking and camping. The troop raises funds by the sale of popcorn, flower bulbs, and Christmas wreathes. They will also be selling items made from para-cord at the Farmers Market this summer. Funds raised will provide additional camping necessities. They are planning a trip to the Omaha Zoo and the Scout Jamboree in Virginia. Boy Scouting is available to boys age 11 and older.
