Post 29 American Legion met at its regular date with Robert Kennedy commanding. The treasurer's report by Adjutant Jim Peterson was heard.
Lonny Milligan, fundraising chair, reported on proceeds from the activities of last month and handed out a schedule of events for the coming summer when the food stand will be in operation.
Barb Duder reported on recent purchases and showed some basic clothing which was purchased by the post which will be used by VA patients who arrive for their stay with inadequate clothing. Discussion regarding the care packages the post will be sending to deployed troops in Afghanistan was heard.
The program was provided by Kirt Sickles, employee of the VA hospital in Iowa City, who heads up two programs involving disabled veterans. They are Castaway Disabilities and the National Veterans TEE Tournament. He was accompanied by Eldon Miller of Kalona, a visually impaired veteran who is one of the participants in these programs. After the presentation it was decided to financially support both programs.
Area veterans are invited to attend the meetings held the second Tuesday each month at the Blair House
