Area athletes compete at Golden Hawk Relays
WELLMAN – The Washington and Columbus Community high school boys’ track teams visited the Mid-Prairie boys last night.
The Golden Hawks took third out of the 10 boys’ teams participating with 75 team points. The Demons placed fourth with 49 points. The Wildcats were seventh at 36.
Tommy Peterson placed first in the shot put once again, this time with a throw of 51 feet, 2 inches. Alex Coker won the 100-meter dash with his time of 11.2 seconds. Noah Lebsack took first in the 400-meter dash in 52.07.
The Demons (Tanner Knupp, Carl Sivels, Coker and Gage Redlinger) placed second in the 4x200-meter relay in 1 minute, 33.03 seconds. Washington (Sivels, Redlinger, Jack Giardino and Coker) took second in the 4x100-meter relay in 45.02.
Jacob Green was fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:13.16. Michael Ellingson had a sixth-place leap of 5-6 in the high jump.
“We had a good night. Alex Coker has been running well. Tommy Peterson got in a good warmup for Drake later this week. Noah Lebsack just keeps consistently getting better. Our handoffs in the 4x200 and 4x100 were a little sketchy. We are adjusting lineups still to see what works best,” Washington head coach Steve Roth said.
The Golden Hawks (Colin Weber, Andrew Schwartz, Zeb Schwartz and Ty Feigenspan) won the 4x800-meter relay in 8:31.64. Feigenspan also won the 800 in 2:07.29.
Levi Duwa took second in the discus at 126-2. Jared Draper was second in the 3,200-meter run in 10:21.7 and the 1,600-meter run in 4:49.44.
Evan Wild placed third in the 400-meter hurdles in 59.64. Mid-Prairie (Z. Schwartz, Wild, A. Schwartz and Feigenspan) was third in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:40.81.
Duwa also took fourth place in the shot put at 43-3 ¾. Ryan Errthum placed fourth in the 3,200 in 10:41.52 and the 1,600 in 5:00.18. The Golden Hawks (Weber, Austin Errthum, Isaiahn Powell and Canaan Powell) were fourth in the 100 relay in 46.28.
Mid-Prairie was sixth in the 4x110-meter shuttle hurdle relay in 1:11.42. Z. Schwartz placed sixth in the 200-meter dash in 24.23. Brent Foster was sixth in the 800 in 2:14.48.
Rickey Rivers took first place in the long jump at 20-7. Mauricio Ramirez won the 200 in 22.72, which is the fourth-fastest 200 time in Wildcat boys’ history. Ramirez was also second in the long jump at 20- ¾.
The Wildcats (D.J. Beechum, Devon Henry, Carter Colby and Anthony Garcia) took fourth in the distance medley in 4:12.19.
Josh Keller placed fifth in the 3,200 in 11:03.39. The Wildcats (Ramirez, Angel Rodriguez, Ricardo Roman and Rivers) took fifth in the 200 relay in 1:37.04.
The Washington and Mid-Prairie boys will be back on the track at WACO on Thursday, May 1. The Wildcat boys will be in action again at Winfield-Mt. Union tomorrow.
