Area athletes earn All-District honors
As the Iowa high school softball season wrapped up on Friday, postseason recognition begins to roll out.
All statistics listed are from before the state tournament.
For the Huskies, who placed fourth in the state tournament in Fort Dodge, three players were named to the 2A Southeast All-District team.
Cheyann Adamson was one of the three named for Highland entering the state tournament with a team-high .554 batting average, along with a team-leading 48 runs. She also finished second on the team in stolen bases (31) and RBIs (39).
Adamson joined Morgan Craig (.518 average, 38 RBIs, 40 runs and 22 stolen bases), and Katie Springer (27-1, 1.56 ERA, 188 strikeouts in 162 innings) on the All-District team for Highland.
After falling in the state quarterfinal, the Golden Hawks rebounded for two wins, earning fifth place in the tournament.
In the All-District lists, Mid-Prairie earned three nominations on the 3A Southeast All-District team, led by Amber Kral.
Kral led the Hawks with a .574 average, 10 homeruns, and 55 RBIs, and was second on the team with 44 runs.
She is joined by Alex Rath (.547 average, 41 stolen bases, team-high 50 runs) and Lexi Duwa (.451 average, 45 stolen bases, 43 runs).
The Demons ended the season one win away from the state tournament, their season ending against Clear Creek Amana, but they picked up an All-District recognition for Ashley Rausch.
The do-everything senior finished the year with a .353 average and a team-high 30 RBIs, while going 13-10 with a 1.80 ERA and striking out 168 batters in 147 2/3 innings.
