Wayland Chapter Iowa J, of the National T.T.T. Society met Monday, Dec. 2, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Center.
Sword of Gold was sung and President Lori Messer opened the meeting with a reading from Fabulosity.
Recording Secretary Georgia Fort took roll call and read minutes of the November meeting. Twenty members were present.
President Messer read a letter from the National Executive Board regarding the “Step It Up” Challenge to all T.T.T. members. Due to increased costs of camping, national funds have been dwindling. The challenge asks each member of T.T.T. to give extra to the National Project Fund over a three-year period. Year one: save 25 cents a week ($13 for the year); Year two: save 50 cents a week ($26 for the year); and Year three: save and give $1 a week ($52 for the year). The board asks that chapter treasurers send the donated funds to the National Treasurer quarterly. This is a voluntary request, but it is hoped each member of T.T.T. will take Challenge to heart and “Step It Up” to assist the national project fund.
Treasurer Jeanne Davis gave her report. Willa Wilson gave a run-down of some possible fundraising ideas for the chapter. Motion carried to order “Cookie” cookbooks for sale by the chapter. The idea of a soup super was discussed and will be revisited at the February meeting.
At National Convention, a chapter from Washington, D.C., visited with Iowa J delegates regarding their assisting Iowa J with camper expenses. The D.C. chapter doesn’t send girls to camp, and would thus like to assist financially with Iowa J’s camper expenses. Georgia and Lori will write to the D.C. chapter welcoming their partnership.
The meeting adjourned with the Closing Creed.
President Messer thanked Cindy and Willa and all members who brought snack foods to share. The members enjoyed a social time while partaking of the foods furnished.
Hostesses for the Feb. 4, 2014 meeting will be Rachel Meyer and Judy Hueholt. The chapter will not meet in January.
Members had brought a wide variety of items for a fundraising auction. Rachel Meyer served as the auctioneer and a great time was had by all.
