At the Library
Though the weather may not feel like summer, we know it's here at the library. Summer reading got off to a great start with a large crowd of readers eager to begin the program. Our first family event on Thursday evening was a lot of fun for those who attended. The fun will continue this week with a couple of performances. Dan Wardell from Iowa Public Television will stop by the library as part of his reading road trip, on Tuesday, June 11. He will perform at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. On Thursday, June 13, at 6 pm., the Dulcimer Guy, a storyteller and folk singer, will bring the music and stories of the Civil War to life and play on Civil War era instruments.
Wacky Wednesday is a gaming day for first- through fifth-grades from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., with sixth through 12th grades from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Not to be left out, we will be offering teens in sixth through 12th grades a Zentanglez workshop with artist Deb Hanson, on Wednesday, at 1 p.m. Zentanglez is a relaxing drawing exercise creating structured patterns with amazing results. Registration is preferred but all teens are welcome.
Our noontime concerts continue with a violin and piano performance by Ting Davidson and Susan See on Thursday, June 13, at 12 p.m.
We look forward to seeing everyone at all these special events. As always they are free and open to the public.
