At the Library

By LeAnn Kunz, Washington Public Library | Jul 05, 2013

This summer we are continuing our popular noontime concert series by featuring some of our area youth. The Summer of the Young Artist Series began in June and continues this month with a concert on Thursday, July 11, featuring Justina Anderson and Keilah Brokaw on piano. All noontime concerts are from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. We will host another concert on Thursday, July 25, featuring Keri Murphy on clarinet. Then on Aug. 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the library is helping to "Celebrate Washington" with open piano times. Anyone interested in playing the library’s beautiful, refurbished piano can sign up for a five-minute session. We want to fill up all the slots, so we are asking anyone of any age who can play piano to please sign up! We finish up the series with two more concerts, one on Thursday, Aug. 8, featuring Ida Short and Taylor Fulton with a program titled “Piano Duets for the Young & Young at Heart”. And finally on Thursday, Aug. 22, Kaylee Hershberger will present a piano concert.

In addition, the library is hosting Monday Fun-days for children and families in July. We will be showing free movies on the second level and those who attend are welcome to brings snacks and blankets and pillows. There is no registration required, but younger children must be accompanied by an adult, 18 years or older. Come spend your summer days at the Washington Public Library!
