At the Library
This time of the year we see many new faces here at the library. Many are family and friends in town visiting for the holidays. It never ceases to amaze me how many people have never been in the new library. It’s gratifying to receive their compliments on what a beautiful library Washington has. They are surprised when we tell them we have been in the building for over three years. At times, it’s hard for me to believe that we have been in this wonderful space that long. I will never be able to thank everyone enough who supported the library project. Walking into this building every morning I still smile. It’s rewarding to be part of a staff who continue to improve and increase library service and programs. Sharing conversations and building friendships with patrons, watching preschoolers and toddlers find confidence coming into the library, looking out at our beautiful downtown every day, are some of the many benefits of my job all made even better in this wonderful library.
As the new year approaches, I look forward to meeting new library friends, serving families with small children, and enjoying another season change in Central Park from our front window. If you don’t have a card, please make it part of your New Year’s resolution to get to the library and apply for one. It will be a great way to start a new chapter in your life. Be sure to pick up one of our event calendars while you are in, to check out the new programs we will be offering to kick off the new year.
