At the Library
The month of March brings hints of spring’s arrival. The birds are singing. The daffodils and tulips are peeking out of the soil. Soon green will return. March also brings St. Patrick’s Day. I find myself reminiscing about my trip to Ireland. Ireland is a spectacular place to visit. There are beautiful cathedrals, landmarks of rich history, interesting people, and jaw-dropping landscape. If you ever get a chance to go there you will quickly find out why Ireland is called the “Emerald Island.”
One of my favorite memories of my trip was when we were visiting the small town of Dingle. A local fisherman Patty Macey invited me and a few friends in my group onto his fishing boat. He proudly told us about his boat and how it had been passed down through the generations. As I looked around at the boat I noticed different scratch marks and rust spots. It made me wonder about all the adventures Patty and his family had on this boat. I hope Patty is still living out his legacy and doing what he truly loves… fishing.
If you need an escape from the dreary winter weather visit the second floor of the Washington Public Library and enjoy my Ireland display. Come check out our great collection of Irish books, travel guides, and Celtic CDs. Some of the pictures were taken while I was in Ireland.
May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!
