Baumert family gathers for reunion
The descendants of the Oscar and Bessie Baumert family met for their annual reunion, Sunday, July 13, 2014, at Holy Trinity Parish Hall in Keota. There were 61 in attendance. Following the blessing, by Pastor Frances Baumert, a bountiful cooperative dinner at 1 p.m. was enjoyed by all.
Those in attendance were: Sandra Killin of Urbandale and Mark Fowler of Des Moines; Paul Jr., Julie, Trey, Brock and Kylie Baumert and friend Katie Glenn of Pleasant Hill; Joseph Baumert of Des Moines; Justin and Jordan Baumert of Victor; Leslie, Aaron, Ian and Evan Schaver of Waterloo; Larry and Connie Baumert, Brian, Cassie, Liam and Ivan Dohmen of Marion; Patsy Peiffer, Shelley, Jordynn and Jaydynn Baumert of Cedar Rapids; Mark Baumert and Lynn Zimmerman of Ainsworth; Tracy Baumert, Gwen Thyen, Keenan Thyen and friend Emma Roberts; Kolten Thyen-Pennington, Emily Baumert and Jeremy Peterson of Washington; David, Amanda, Lyla, Aidan and Wyatt Smothers of Millersburg; Frances Baumert, Ron Baumert, Peter, Patty and Lily Hammes and Korrah Luers-Hammes, Richard, Christine, Travis and Ashley Baumert, Benjamin Hammes and Missy Woods, Loretta Streigle, all of Sigourney; Cheryl Steffen of Ottumwa; Samantha and Bentlee Hervey of Hedrick; Greg, Kathy and Abby Brower of Richland; Genevieve Jaeger, Dennis and Judy Baumert, and Gene Baumert of Keota.
Genevieve Jaeger of Keota was the eldest in attendance, and the youngest was 13-month-old Jordan Scott Baumert of Victor.
Get-well cards were signed for Marilyn Van Fleet of North English, Darlene Streets of Gladbrook, and the Margaret Burk family of Bucklin, Mo.
The closest number of M&M’s in the jar was won by Dr. Paul Baumert Jr. of Pleasant Hill. Everyone enjoyed playing bingo, with many prizes given. Little Abby Brower of Richland was a delight for all to see. Lots of picture taking and visiting rounded out the day.
The 2015 Baumert reunion will be held the second Sunday in July at the St. Mary’s Hall in Keota.
