Boys represent Washington well on track
FAIRFIELD – The Washington Middle School seventh-grade boys’ track and field team participated in a six-team meet on Tuesday, May 6. Washington placed fourth in the team standings with 68.5 points.
The 4x400-meter relay (Cade Pohren, Walker Ikerd, Tristan Westphal-Edwards and Garrett Ikerd) won the race with a time of 4 minutes, 26.52 seconds. The shuttle hurdle relay (Caleb Suchan, Westphal-Edwards, Kolten Hinrichsen and Cade Hennigan) came in second place in 1:15.15. The 4x200-meter relay (Westphal-Edwards, Sam Hall, Mason Sinn and G. Ikerd) also placed second with a time of 1:57.02.
Coming in third place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.72 was Hall. Also placing third was Hennigan in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.78. The sprint medley (Trevor Leyden, Kyle Dallmeyer, Sinn and Pohren) finished third with a time of 2:04.82.
The 4x800-meter relay (Ben Loy, Mitchell Driscoll, Logan Escher and W. Ikerd) was fourth in 11:23.34. The distance medley (Dallmeyer, Hennigan, Ben Schiefer and Pohren) took fourth place with a time of 4:50.34. The 4x100-meter relay (Leyden, Hall, Sinn and G. Ikerd) came in fourth place in 57.91.
Rio Lujano finished fifth in the discus with his throw of 67 feet, 10 inches. Hall got the same placement in the shot put at 28-9 ½. Schiefer equaled that placement in the high jump, clearing the bar set at 4-2.
In the 100 hurdles, Suchan took fifth place with a time of 18.91. Ben Baughman came in sixth in the shot put with his mark at 28-1. Leyden recorded a sixth-place time of 14.99 in the 100.
W. Ikerd scored for Washington in the 400-meter dash, as his time of 1:10.35 was good for sixth place. Dallmeyer was sixth in the 200-meter dash in 30.37.
