Big sister Aurora Phillips, 2 years old, along with her parents, Jennifer and Brian Phillips of Urbandale, would like to announce the birth of Ames Joseph, born on Oct. 22, 2013. Gerald and Rosemary Pacha of Brighton are the grandparents.

He weighed 8 pounds, 13 ounces.

Other grandparents are Carol Phillips of Central City and Joe Phillips of Florida.

On Monday, Oct. 28, Gerald and Rosemary Pacha attended the funeral for her uncle, David Mineart of Norwalk.

Providing the evening meal of Nov. 3 at the home of Winifred Fritz of Brighton were her daughters, Jane Symmonds and Mary Stecker with Bridget Hollingsworth, all of Fairfield. They were joined by Winifred’s son Tony Fritz of Brighton with friend Lynn of North Liberty.

Approximately 60 people attended the open house for Jan Miller of Brighton. She is retiring as leader of the youth group of Brighton’s First Church of God. The open house was held on Nov. 6 at the Family Center in Brighton. Jan has been leading the youth for 18 years. Her leadership and inspiration will be missed.

Ginny Brinton of Brighton with her brother Fritz and Nancy Gowey of Milan, Ill., spent Oct. 28 through Nov. 4 in Missouri. They enjoyed visiting and sightseeing.

Chapter AQ, P.E.O., met on Nov. 5 at the home of Joyce Wilson in Washington. Fourteen members were present. Beverley Kephart, the co-host, gave the program on a book report. Their next meeting will be held on Nov. 19 at the home of Nancy Anderson in Brighton. Ruth Ann Stacy will be the co-host.

Krony Krew Bridge Club met on Nov. 6 at the home of Ginny Brinton. Phyllis Scheeler, Sarah Robison and Dorothy Miller were the prize-winners. Their next meeting will be held on Nov. 20 at the home of Shirley Schooley.
