J.D. Hollingsworth of Packwood visited his grandmother, Winifred Fritz, the afternoon and evening of Jan. 20. They were joined for the evening meal by Winifred’s son Tony Fritz of Brighton with friend Lynn of North Liberty.
The Krony Krew Bridge Club met on Jan. 23 at the home of Shirley Schooley. Shirley Schooley and Louise Frakes won the prizes. They will meet again on Feb. 6 at the home of Phyllis Scheeler.
Caryl Smith, Danny and Hazel Greiner, and Bill Peck attended a funeral in Burlington on Jan. 18. After the funeral, they enjoyed dining at The Big Muddy.
On Jan. 19, Caryl Smith attended the 80th birthday party for Elaine Baxter, former Iowa secretary of state. The party was held at the home of Caryl’s cousin John Collins in Burlington.
Gerald and Rosemary Pacha spent the weekend of Jan. 11-14 in Wichita, Kan., visiting their son, Jeff, and his family. While there, they attended wrestling meets and basketball games that their four grandsons were taking part in.
Anyone interested in joining a Live Healthy Iowa team, contact Rosemary Pacha. The Live Healthy Iowa Wellness program begins on Jan. 28 and in April. As a team member you are encouraged to get active and eat well. As part of the Healthiest State Initiative, the common goal is to make Iowa one of the healthiest states in the nation.
The Brighton Chamber met Thursday evening for their monthly meeting. Plans for Whoopee Days 2013 were discussed. Whoopee Days will take place again this year on the third weekend of June – June 13-15. There will be a soup supper sponsored by the Brighton Chamber on Friday, March 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. It will be a free-will offering. This is also the night of the Chamber’s membership drive. Chamber members will be asking for Whoopee Days theme ideas that evening. Be watching for news of various Whoopee Days activities! The Chamber meets on the third Thursday of each month in the Brighton Federation Bank meeting room, and everyone is welcome to attend.
