'Bubble Mania' Day Camp held
The Washington County Extension Office held a Bubble Mania Day Camp on July 2, at Kalona City Park and July 3, at Marr Park. Both days contained the same fun and excitement. Around 40 kindergarten and first-graders attended the camp.
The campers enjoyed a day full of bubble activities. All participants experimented with different types of soaps and learned what ingredients are needed to make bubbles. They also made their own bubble makers and bubble wrap paintings and joined in a bubble gum chewing contest. They learned about surface tension and how chemical reactions create bubbles. The highlight of the day occurred when each camper became surrounded in a life size bubble.
Leaders for the camp were Extension Staff Jodi Ebert and Kelsey Martins with help from members of the Washington 4-H County Council and Leadership Development Team.
