RIGHTON — Carolyn S. Ford-Elmore, 56, of Iowa City, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, in Oskaloosa, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton with the Rev. Joseph Brown officiating. Burial will be in Sandy Hook Cemetery in Brighton. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials for cancer research may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 1205 Laura Drive, Lot 78, Forest View Trailer Court, Iowa City, IA 52245.
Mrs. Ford-Elmore was born Oct. 22, 1957, in Washington, the daughter of Duane “Tubby” and Marie (Capps) Lowe. She married Jesse Ford. The couple later divorced. She married Craig Elmore on July 24, 1992, in Golden Lake, N.D.
She grew up in Brighton and graduated from Washington High School in 1975. She and her husband Craig moved to Iowa City in 1999. She worked as a cook at Old Country Buffet for several years, then became a housekeeper for Iowa River Landing Clinic in Coralville.
Surviving are her husband, Craig; five sons, Jesse L. Ford of Macon, Mo., Ronald Ford of Fresno, Calif., Victor Ford of Michigan, Craig Folts of Milford, Neb., and Dominique Folts of Milford, Neb.; three daughters, Tillie Ford of Barnes City, Kassandra Ford and Patrick McCoy of Oskaloosa, and Labekka Hiatt and husband Scott of Albia; three sisters, Opal Lyon of Salem, Eta Weir of Kansas City, Kan., and Beverly Prickett of Wayland; and two brothers, Clarence Lowe of Washington, and Clyde Milks of Hedrick.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Tim Lowe, and James Milks.
