Chicago pastor to speak at Sugar Creek
The public is invited to Sugar Creek Mennonite Church’s Fall Meetings with Brenda Matthews. Mama Brenda, as she is known to many, has spent her life attending, contributing, and providing leadership to churches in Chicago. She is in her fifth year of ministry at Ellis Avenue Baptist Church.
In addition to her pastoral work, Brenda is a widely published poet and spoken word artist. She has a strong passion for working with young people, especially through the arts. She is a regular speaker at youth events, Mennonite Church USA Youth Conventions, and on college campuses due to her inspiring message of hope in Jesus Christ and the need for an active faith that requires the church to be “Kingdom Builders and World Changers.”
Matthews will speak at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 3, 7 p.m. on Nov. 4, and 7 p.m. Nov. 5.
The Sunday evening event will be geared toward youth, but everyone is invited to attend.
