Collision near Mt. Pleasant leaves one dead
MT. PLEASANT (GTNS) – An automobile collision at 4:33 a.m. Monday resulted in one fatality and injuries to several other people, according to a press release from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the investigation, it was determined that a 2008 Mazda car, operated by Sydney Fox, 19, of Mt. Pleasant, was traveling east on 295th Street when Fox allegedly failed to stop at the stop sign and proceeded into the path of a silver Chevrolet van operated by Carl Pollmeier, 28, of Mt. Pleasant, that was traveling south on Highway 218.
Both vehicles collided and came to rest in the median, with several injuries reported. Fox was transported by ambulance to Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant and then flown by helicopter to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City where she was pronounced dead, according to the press release from the sheriff’s office.
A passenger in Fox’s vehicle was also transported to Henry County Health Center for injuries and then later released. All the other injuries involved in the accident were reported as minor.
