County 4-H'er named to National 4-H Congress
Washington County is proud to send one youth of the 21 4-H’ers selected to represent Iowa as delegates for the National 4-H Congress, titled “Become a Catalyst of Change,” in Atlanta, Ga., Nov. 23–27.
The Iowa Farm Bureau and donors to the Iowa 4-H Foundation National 4-H Congress Endowment sponsor the youth. Iowa delegates will get a chance to listen to speakers, participate in workshops and serve the Atlanta community.
Washington County 4-H’er Lexi Marek will represent Washington County and the entire state of Iowa while in Atlanta. She is a member of the Jackson Jets 4-H Club, Washington County 4-H County Council and is the daughter of Tim and Heather Marek of Riverside.
A nine-year 4-H member, Marek has been involved in the swine, cattle, fashion review, home improvement and consumer management project areas. She has served as president, vice president, reporter and historian of her 4-H club.
“4-H has given me amazing experiences,” Marek said. “I have met great people, traveled to various places and learned important skills."
