County fair competition begins

Competition at the 2014 running of the Washington County Fair began Sunday afternoon with the dog obedience show held in the show ring.
Jessica Schoonover of Horse and Pony Club was the overall grand champion of the event and Cheyenne Sedlacek of Crooked Creek was the overall reserve grand champion.
Sedlacek won the champion dog showman first and second year member class and Leah Danker of Good Luck got the reserve prize. Schoonover won the champion dog showman third year member and older contest and Addison McGuire of Jackson Jets was reserve.
Ellie Todd of Prairie Pride showed the champion dog obedience pre-novice A first year and C. J. Rauch of Kalona Klassics had the reserve. In the second year class, Schoonover showed the champion and Lindsey Roth of Horse and Pony Club showed the reserve. McGuire won the champion dog obedience sub-novice third year class and Maggie Smith of Washington Go-Getters was reserve.
Jack Streb of Bows & Bullets won the champion dog obedience novice – fourth year contest. Schoonover won the champion graduate novice – fifth year dog contest and Lexi Black of Horse and Pony Club was reserve.
The fair continues today.

8:30 a.m. Judging 4-H and FFA horse and pony (halter)
9 a.m. Judging 4-H and FFA rabbits
12 p.m. Judging 4-H and FFA Horse and Pony (performance)
12 p.m. Pet project interviews
1:30 p.m. Judging 4-H and FFA pets
4 p.m. Judging 4-H and FFA beef heifers
4-7 p.m. 4-H shooting sports archery booth
5 p.m. 4-H working exhibits – basement
5:30 p.m. Judging 4-H and FFA poultry
6 p.m. Clover Kids style revue – Lions stage
