County to buy new dump truck
The Washington County Board of Supervisors took care of routine business during the weekly meeting Tuesday morning.
The board acknowledged two animal confinement feeding operations: one for Drew Hartzler in Section 26 of Cedar Township, and one for Steve and Sue Norman (Benson site) in Section 17 of Cedar Township.
County engineer Jacob Thorius asked the board to acknowledge the quotes for a dump truck. He said the dump truck will be a tandem axle dump truck. Dump trucks are used to haul dirt and gravel and to plow snow. He said the new dump truck is in his budget. He decided to purchase a Mack dump truck for $109,700.
The board voted unanimously to acknowledge the dump truck purchase.
Supervisor Jack Seward said this week’s Rubio and Richmond sanitary sewer projects update remains the same as last week’s. He said he has not heard from the Department of Natural Resources office in Des Moines about the consent order. The deadline for complying with the consent order was June 1, 2014.
In other business, the board:
• approved a 28E agreement with SE Iowa Case Management;
• approved a resolution to acknowledge an application for a Washington County Riverboat Foundation grant from the Public Health Department for its Family Connection program;
• approved personnel change requests from the county attorney and sheriff’s office; and
• approved a fiscal agent agreement and an employer-of-record agreement for Henry/Washington Early Childhood Area.
The board went into recess until 11 a.m., at which time the board was to canvass the June 3 primary election votes.
