Couple exchange wedding vows
Christine Marie Birney and Trent Allan Doonan, both of Winterset, were married July 7, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Washington. Pastor Jim Stiles officiated the 4:30 p.m. double-ring ceremony.
Parents of the couple are Dave and Linda Birney of Washington; and Ron and Peggy Doonan of Harlan.
The bride wore a light ivory soft satin halter style gown with a chapel-length train featuring a pleated bodice and band of beading around the dropped waist. She carried a bouquet of white flowers.
Heather Holmstedt of Brooklyn served as matron of honor and Mary Kay Daniel of Fort Dodge was the maid of honor. Attendants wore cocktail-length gowns in black satin. Each carried a nosegay bouquet of lime green spider mums and button mum flowers.
The groom was attired in a black tuxedo with a silver vest, accented by a black and silver striped tie.
Troy Doonan of Harlan, brother of the groom, served as best man. Nick Schmitz of Carroll, served as groomsman. Ushers were Shane Gaskill of Manilla, and Nathan Doonan, son of the groom, Harlan.
Guest book and program attendants were Amanda Doonan of Council Bluffs, and Madison Doonan of Harlan, both daughters of the groom.
Music was provided by church organist Maurine Roberts with Amanda Doonan on flute.
Following the wedding, a reception and dinner were held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Washington hosted by Marg and Lanny Brinning, aunt and uncle of the bride. Cake servers were Margaret Stauffer and Pat Huber, both aunts of the bride. Music was provided by Time Well Wasted, a vocal band.
The bride, a graduate of Washington High School and Iowa State University is employed at AGRILAND FS in Winterset as marketing coordinator.
The groom is a graduate of Harlan Community High School and works for HyVee in Indianola, as meat market manager.
The couple resides in Winterset.
