Court to be closed

Jun 27, 2013
Due to ongoing cases of vandalism and littering on the basketball court in Sunset Park, Washington Police Chief Greg Goodman announced today that the court would be closed until further notice. Goodman said Parks Department personnel have had issues every day with litter and more recently people have adjusted the timers on the lights to extend the time the court is open in the evening. On Wednesday night, the lock was broken off the box, which Goodman said constitutes vandalism. The court will be fenced off and Goodman said that if anyone violates the fenced-in area, they would be charged with trespassing. He said he hopes the parties involved can get the situation resolved, saying the court is heavily used.
