Jonell Butler Kraus graduated May 16, 2013, from Indian Hills Community College with her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. Attending the ceremony were her mother, Susie Butler, her sister Amanda Felts and daughter, Izzy of Crawfordsville; her aunt, Pat Smalling from Waxahachie, Texas; and her mother-in-law, Sandy Kraus from Arbela, Mo.
Jonell and her husband, Steven, reside in Kirksville, Mo. Steven will be leaving soon for Afghanistan.
Barb Sollazzo of Liberty, Mo,. visited in the home of Billie Jo Rose last Saturday.
The regular meeting of Iowa, Chapter L of the National T.T.T. Society, was held at the Olds United Church of Christ on Tuesday, May 28, 2013.
The 2013 camp girls, along with their mothers, grandmother and sisters, were present to open the many camp shower gifts provided by Chapter L. They also had been shopping and shared the items they purchased with the assistance of the camp committee members.
Refreshments were served by Glenda Alvine and Ruth Erwin before the girls departed.
President Marlys Fear called the meeting to order at 8 p.m. She also provided an inspirational reading titled, “Pray to Always be the Coffee.” Thirteen members and two guests answered roll call by naming a flower or blooming bush. The minutes from the previous meeting were approved as read. Marlys shared some correspondence with the group from the recent Tidbits and Tales. The treasurer’s report was read and approved, and will be placed on file for audit.
Standing Committee Reports:
Camp: Camp chair Nancy McGohan reported that all shopping for this year has been completed. Camp will be held June 16-21. She also asked if the chapter would like to purchase school supplies for each of this year’s campers, as was done in 2012. A motion was made, seconded and carried to purchase school supplies. Nancy will do the shopping when the summer school sales begin.
There was no unfinished business.
Bills were presented and approved. Pat King asked that members let the records show how appreciative they are of the Camp Committee.
Marlys thanked hostesses Ruth Erwin and Glenda Alvine for assisting Ceanne Alvine and Mary Benson in serving refreshments. The next meeting will be Monday, June 24, with Jean Anderson and Sally Anderson serving as hostesses.
Following the business meeting, the Ways and Means Committee held a plant auction, during which many different and beautiful flowers and plants were shared with one another.
