The regular meeting of Chapter L of the National T.T.T. Society was held at the Olds Church of Christ on Monday, Sept. 23.
Three of the 2013 Camp Girls, along with one grandmother, were present to tell about their camp experiences at T.T.T. camp in June. They all seemed to have had a wonderful time and were still excited by all the activities they experienced at camp. After refreshments were served, the girls departed for the evening.
The business meeting was called to order by President Marlys Fear. Karolyn Crawford provided very thoughtful meditations on the Prayer of Blessing. Nineteen members answered roll call by telling how many siblings each had.
The minutes of the July meeting were approved as read.
Correspondence was read from Carole Lauger, in which she requested to be made a sustaining member. President Marlys shared correspondence with the group from the Iowa State T.T.T. office challenging Chapter L to take in three new members in the coming year. She and Nancy McGohan will be attending the National T.T.T. Convention in Covington, Ky., Oct. 17-20, 2013. The Chapter is pleased to know that Deb Remick of Chapter U Mount Union was elected by the Iowa State Board to be the state parliamentarian.
The treasurer’s report was presented by Joan Rodgers and approved as read, and will be placed on file for audit.
Camp Chair Nancy McGohan reported that she has purchased new beach towels as replacements. Ways and Means Chair Leah Woline inquired about the chapter’s interest in selling Butter Braids this fall. The decision was reached to sell Butter Braids and cookie dough. Leah will get all the information and have it ready at the next meeting. Karolyn Crawford read two thank-you notes from former camp girls who had graduated from high school this year. They both expressed appreciation for the support and interest Chapter L has sustained for them over the years.
Balloting was held for three potential members. They will be contacted soon and, pending acceptance, it is hoped that initiation will be held at the October meeting. The proposed budget for 2014 was presented by Joan Rodgers, which was accepted and approved by the membership. President Marlys activated the 2013 Audit Committee of Betty Molander and Pat King. A Nominating Committee of Louise Unkrich and Nancy McGohan was named. Marlys will find a third person to chair the committee.
The meeting was closed by reciting the T.T.T. Closing Creed. Marlys thanked the hostesses, Marge Tolander and Lisa Kempf.
The next meeting will be Monday, Oct. 28, with the election and installation of officers. Betty Molander and Louise Unkrich will be hostesses and Nancy McGohan will have meditations.
Sunday School hour returns to 10:15 a.m., following church for the adults, this week. The children’s Sunday School starts right after the Children’s Sermon during worship.
On Friday, Oct. 11, there will be an opportunity for people from the Crawfordsville and Ainsworth churches to enjoy an open house and view the parsonage from 6 to 8 p.m. This will be followed by an evening of fun, roasting hotdogs and marshmallows, hot chocolate, an outside movie and a bonfire, along with Halloween costume judging.
In case of rain, the event will be canceled.
