Helen Lease enjoyed a visit from a nephew and two nieces, Larry Bell of West Des Moines, and Jeri Hansen of Cedar Rapids and Cheryl Stufflebeam of Manchester on Tuesday. They drove to Mount Pleasant and picked up cousin Chris Stauffer and went to lunch at Butch's River Rock Cafe at Oakland Mills. Following lunch they went back to Chris's where they enjoyed seeing her husband Rick's collection of antique cars.
Scott and Jeanne Davis welcomed their first grandson, Brysen Dean, son of Marcus and Brittany Davis of Wayland, on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, at the Henry County Health Center. He weighed in at 8 pounds, 12 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long.
He was welcomed home by his 18-month-old sister, Makinley.
Sunday School at the United Church of Crawfordsville will begin again on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 10:15 a.m. in the lounge. The youth will have Sunday School during the church hour.
The movie "Heaven is for Real" will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14. Based on the No. 1 New York Times bestselling book of the same name, "Heaven Is For Real," brings to the screen a true story of a small-town pastor who must find the courage and conviction to share his son's extraordinary, life-changing experience with the world. Colton, 4, claims to have visited heaven during a near death experience. Colton recounts the details of his amazing journey with childlike innocence and speaks matter of factly about things that happened before his birth — things he couldn't possibly know. The family is then challenged to examine the meaning from this remarkable event.
Everyone is invited to come and enjoy this free movie. There will be free popcorn and drinks.
