Thirteen members of the Wednesday Study Club met on Feb. 20, at the home of Julia Bletscher with Lennis Beichter as co-hostess.

As part of the meeting, members discussed books that they had read.

Officers for the 2013-2014 year were elected with Ruth Erwin as president; Deb Lowe, vice president and Wilma McAllister, secretary-treasuer.

Lennis was in charge of the program, which was a sharing of “Remembering a Relative.” Many interesting stories were told about family members who had been special either in present memories or from earlier times.

The hostess served delicious refreshments.

The next meeting will be March 10, with the calling committee notifying members of the place.

The fourth annual WACO Hoops to Help Alumni Games are scheduled for Friday, March 8, beginning at 6 p.m. Admission to the games is a free-will donation. This year’s event will benefit “On His Path,” which is helping students in their quest to package 100,000 meals for Kids Against Hunger.

If anyone would like to help package food on March 8 from 1 to 4 p.m., you may contact Brittany Davison at 319-256-5656 to reserve a spot. Persons may sign up as individuals or as a group of up to 12 people. Come watch the games and special half-time entertainment shows while supporting a worthy cause.

For the young people in the church who would like to go to summer camp, it’s not too early to start thinking about where they would like to go. Fliers are put on the table in the narthex for anyone interested. The church will pay one-third, the United Church Women will pay one-third and parents are asked to pay one-third of the cost for one camp.
