Cross Walk to take place on Good Friday

The Washington Area Ministerial Association will sponsor the Cross Walk in the city of Washington on Good Friday, April 18. The walk will begin at 12 p.m. at the post office. There will be 14 stations of the Cross Walk in downtown Washington. Everyone in the community is invited to experience each station of the cross as it stops at several locations. Prayers and Scripture will be read at each location, as all experience the journey of Christ carrying the cross.

The following locations will serve as stations of the Cross Walk. A description of the station is also noted.

Station One: Post Office — Jesus prays in the Garden of Olives

Station Two: United Methodist Church — Jesus bears his cross

Station Three: First Christian Church — Jesus falls for the first time

Station Four: Washington County Courthouse — Jesus meets his mother

Station Five: WCDC — Simon of Cyrene helps carry Jesus' cross

Station Six: Marion Avenue Baptist Church — A woman wipes the face of Jesus

Station Seven: Washington Public Library — For the second time

Station Eight: City Park — Jesus rebukes the daughters of Jerusalem

Station Nine: Bodywrx — Jesus falls

Station 10: Federation Bank — Jesus is stripped of his garments

Station 11: Jones-Eden Funeral Home — Jesus is nailed to the cross

Station 12: YMCA — Jesus dies on the cross

Station 13: United Presbyterian Church — Jesus is given to his mother

Station 14: First Baptist Church — Jesus is laid in the tomb
