WELLMAN — Mid-Prairie’s defense clamped down on Tipton in a 49-19 win over the Tigers inside Tim Grady Gymansium on Tuesday night.

The ninth-ranked Golden Hawks (3-2, 2-2 Cedar Valley Conference) forced 22 Tipton turnovers and held the Tigers to just five field goals, including just one in the second half.

“This was just what we needed to get back on track,” Mid-Prairie head coach Marc Pennington said. “Our defense had left us a little in the last two games, so it was nice to lock down Tipton the way we did.”

Senior Mariah Swartzentruber scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Golden Hawks. Senior Meghan Redlinger and sophomore Taylor Kurtz added nine points apiece, and Redlinger also had five steals.
