Demon bowlers compete at Keokuk
KEOKUK - The Washington High School boys’ and girls’ bowling teams competed against the Keokuk Chiefs at Keokuk on Tuesday, Jan. 21 with Keokuk taking victories in both games. The meet was a makeup of the meet originally scheduled for Dec. 21 but postponed due to weather.
The Washington boys’ team only had four bowlers and thus had to take zero scores for the fifth bowler in the first round and in the Baker games. The Demon girls’ team also was short at just five bowlers, leaving no cushion for a low score to throw out.
Washington’s all-freshman boys’ team combined for a round one total of 1,033. Jon Graf had the two-round high, bowling a 303 in his two games. Collin Zear got the single-game high for the Demons with a 152 in his second game.
In the second round Keokuk took all five Baker games and won the meet 2,532 – 1,560.
The Washington girls bowled a first round total of 1,311. Junior Kailey Martin was the high bowler for the Demons with her first round total of 326. The single game high also belonged to Martin with her first game score of 173.
The Chief girls also won all five Baker games to complete the Keokuk sweep, 2,764 – 1,961.
The Washington bowlers will be in action at home on Saturday, Jan. 25 against Mt. Pleasant.
