Demon bowling teams finish sixth at state qualifying tournament
MT. PLEASANT — The Washington boys’ and girls’ bowling teams both finished sixth at Thursday’s Class 1A state qualifying meet at Iris Lanes in Mt. Pleasant.
The Demon girls had a score of 1,927 at the meet, finishing 56 pins behind fifth-place Louisa-Muscatine. Keokuk totaled a score of 2,524 pins on the day to win the tournament and qualify for state.
Junior Brandi Hagans rolled games of 166 and 154 and her two-game series score of 320 led Washington. Sophomore Abbey Tisor added a 268 series. Sophomores Ivy Hamilton and Jessica Londberg totaled 257 and 254 pins on the day, respectively, and sophomore Kali McDole rounded out the scoring with her 247 series. Sophomore Rylee Arbogast toppled 198 pins on the day. The Demons added 581 pins in the Baker round.
The Washington boys had a score of 2,175 pins at the meet. Louisa-Muscatine won the tournament and qualified for state with a score of 2,901.
Senior Dalton Nichols rolled games of 182 and 158, and his two-game series score of 340 led the Demons. Senior Shawn Edwards added a 328 series, and senior Adam Woodson had a two-game total of 288. Senior Allan Raymundo had a 236 series, and senior Ryan Roberts rounded out the scoring with his 217 series. Washington added 766 pins in the Baker round.
