Demon football player signs with South Dakota
Washington High School senior Alex Coker signed a national letter of intent to play football for the University of South Dakota on Wednesday, Feb. 5.
“When I went for my official visit they were the first ones to give me an offer. After that it came down to the coaching staff and where I wanted to live. It is the university that I want to attend,” Coker said.
Coker got three other offers before committing to South Dakota. He will be playing safety for the Coyotes.
“We [Coker’s coaches] believe he can play at the collegiate level. South Dakota was the front-runner with him from the start. He’s going to be a great defensive player for them. He’s not going to miss the weight room and will bring other kids with him. He’s an athlete and has great leadership skills. We are pleased to have someone that is going to go on and represent Washington High School well at the next level,” Washington football coach Randy Schrader commented.
Coker is the son of Connie and Robert Coker of Washington. He intends to major in elementary education.
