Demon golfers get back into the swing of things
The weather in March is up and down as always. One day we are enjoying the sunny skies of a 60-degree day. Two days later we are shoveling snow off our sidewalks again. One thing that is for certain right now though is that the boys of the Washington golf team hope that as the temperature gradually climbs, their scores gradually drop.
“We have a good tradition of solid golfers. They have worked hard and achieved quite a bit. Three spots are open right now so we are going to have some competition for those places on our team. We have seven guys returning from last year’s team, three of those being varsity letterwinners,” head coach Mark Berhow said.
The 2014 season begins for Washington on Monday, April 7 in Marion. The Demons will play at Mt. Pleasant on April 10 then host their first meet on April 15 against Columbus Community and Mid-Prairie. A dual with Fairfield and Fort Madison preempts two home dates, an 18-hole meet against Williamsburg on April 24 and then the Washington Invitational on April 26. The Demons will then be on the road until the conference meet in Washington on May 13.
