Demon JV girls win their seventh straight game
A Fairfield player tossed in a 30-footer to send Friday’s junior varsity girls’ basketball game to overtime, but Washington prevailed in the extra period for a 52-48 victory.
The Demons (10-6) rallied from a six-point halftime deficit to win their seventh straight game.
“Coming off of playing a varsity reserve game at Mid-Prairie the night before, we were rather flat,” Washington head coach Jay Zieglowsky said. “But we were able to regroup, come back, and pull it out. It was disappointing not to play as well as we had been, but a win’s a win and we’ll take it.”
Freshman Amber Salow scored 16 points to lead the Demons, and she also had two steals and two rebounds in the contest. Sophomore Sydney Hoffman added eight points and eight rebounds, and sophomore Macy Marek had seven points. Sophomore Dylann Schluetter had six points to go with 11 rebounds, and sophomore Elle Van Gundy had six points and two boards. Sophomore Rachael Hall had three points and four steals in the game, and junior Jacy Zieglowsky had two points and two rebounds. Sophomore Jordan Stout and freshman Morgan Kimball both chipped in two points apiece.
