TOMBALL, Texas — Doris Eaton, 76, of Magnolia, Texas, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, in Houston, Texas, one day after celebrating her birthday.
A celebration of life was held at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 21, at the Klein Funeral Home in Tomball, Texas. Her final resting place will be next to her parents in Bixby, Okla. A memorial fund has been established to provide students the opportunity to embrace the love of learning through books. Memorial donations may be directed to the Doris Eaton Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 88, Magnolia, Texas, 77353, in care of Eric Morris, CFO, Magnolia ISD.
Originally from Tulsa, Okla., she met and married her husband, Donald Eaton, in 1956 while attending Oklahoma A & M. She received her B.A. in elementary education in 1969 and her Master of Education degree in 1992. She and her family lived in Louisiana in the 1960s; in Washington, Iowa, in the ‘70s; and in Spring and Magnolia, Texas, for the past 32 years. She taught elementary school in three states and retired in 2004 as an assistant principal. She considered it one of life’s greatest gifts to have had the opportunity to teach young children.
Surviving are her husband; four daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Dallas Billing, Melinda and Marcus McCarthy, Katrina and Kevin Lamphier, and Jennifer and Paul Schumann; and three grandchildren.
