Blair House, where these stairs are located, is one of 11 Washington County historical sites that will be open to visitors from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 9. Blair House is located at the intersection of East Washington Street and South Second Avenue in Washington. Wayne and Edonna Gamon will be the hosts at Blair House on June 9.

The stairs pictured were once painted "Pepto-Bismol" pink. Some senior citizens took on the project of stripping the paint off of the solid walnut stairway to the second floor.

The other sites are F Troop Museum, Conger House, DAR Cabin, Red Brick Country School, Smith Creek School (Wellman), St. Mary’s Catholic Church (Riverside) and Walnut School.

Phone ahead for details on the following sites: Singmaster House in Keota, Marge Koehler, 641-636-3001; Rubio Train Station in Rubio, Connie Hartnell, 319-456-3959; and Grace Hill Moravian Church, Fritz Engel, 319-461-3685.

For more information, call Carlton Mangold at 319-653-3646.
