KALONA — Duran Allen Richenberger, 60, of Wellman, formerly of Wayland, died Thursday, March 16, 2017, in the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 22, at Kalona Mennonite Church with the Rev. Josh Lundberg and the Rev. Scott Swartzendruber officiating. Burial will be at the North Hill Cemetery in Wayland. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday at the church. A memorial fund has been established for the Iowa Bicycle Coalition. The Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Richenberger was born Feb. 21, 1957, in Mount Pleasant, the son of Glen and Geraldine (Kaiser) Richenberger. He married Tracy Conner on Dec. 22, 1977, in Mount Pleasant.
He graduated from WACO High School. He worked in a foundry for many years, and at the time of his death he was an employee of Chris Schlabach Construction in Kalona. He was a member of the Lionel Collectors Club of America (LCCA), and enjoyed collecting trains, bicycling, playing the piano, and spending time with his family. He and Tracy also enjoyed riding their bicycles on RAGBRAI.
Surviving are his wife, Tracy, of Wellman; two children, Eric Richenberger of Wellman, and Laura Scott and husband Micah of Richmond; one daughter-in-law, Annie Richenberger of Urbana; two granddaughters; his mother, Geraldine Rixe of Wayland; three siblings, Stan Richenberger and wife Mary Lou of Wayland, Michael Richenberger of Wayland, and Cynthia Richenberger of Cedar Rapids; and his stepmother, Patricia Richenberger of Mount Pleasant.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glen; his stepfather, Harold Rixe; one sister-in-law, Linda Richenberger; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Nina Evelyn and William Conner.
