Eagle boys and girls participate in 2014 Keota Relays
KEOTA – The 2014 Keota Relays were held yesterday afternoon and the results were good for the host school on both the boys’ and girls’ side of the event.
The Eagle boys placed third out of three schools with 34 team points. The girls fell in the same place with 41 points.
For the boys, senior Luke Lyle took first place in the 400-meter dash with his time of 58.73 seconds. Junior Ben Horras won the 200-meter dash in 25.09. In the boys’ distance medley, Keota placed first with a time of 4 minutes, 15.98 seconds.
Senior Matt Slaughter took second place in the shot put with his throw of 33 feet, 2 inches. Freshman Jacob Wickenkamp placed second in the 100-meter dash in 12.23 and the 200 in 26.66. Sophomore Isaiah Hahn was second in the 1,600-meter run in 5:49.53 seconds. The boys’ 4x100-meter relay team had a second-place time of 51.29.
Slaughter was also third in the discus throw at 99-2. Horras placed third in the 100 in 12.25.
Senior Kelsi Sieren was among the top performers for the Eagle girls, winning the long jump with her leap of 12-11 ½ and the 400-meter hurdles in 1:22.62. The girls’ sprint medley team won in 2:25.19. The girls’ 4x400-meter relay placed first in 5:09.19.
Abby Schulte was second in the long jump at 12-9 ½. Junior Brooke Sieren placed second in the 100 in 14.1, the 400 in 1:12.06 and the 200 in 29.88. The girls’ 4x200-meter relay was second in 2:17.37.
K. Sieren was also third in the 100-meter hurdles in 19.75. Maggie Baker took third in the 400 hurdles in 1:45.87. The girls’ 100 relay team took third in 1:04.03.
The Eagle boys will be on the track again this afternoon at BGM. The girls will be in action this afternoon as well, at Eddyville.
