Easter — Victory over death
Today as I look outside and see the beginning of spring and summer and the new life that is taking place in nature and the beauty of it as the deadness of winter is replaced by the brightness and beauty of it, I think of the beauty and wonders of God’s love and the life and hope that we can have in Him. I marvel not only in God’s creation, the earth and all that is in it and the beauty that He brings forth in it, but I also marvel at the newness of life and hope that He brings into the lives of those who receive Him into their lives as their Lord and Savior and are truly born again by the Spirit of the Living God. As they are brought alive from the inside out … we see the beauty of Jesus blossoming in their lives just as in the springtime we see the beauty of Nature unfolding in so many different ways.
As we enter this time in which we celebrate Easter, I am reminded of God’s love and just how much He does love us and care about us. I think of the price He paid to make it possible for us to once again enter into a real relationship with our Heavenly Father. The Bible says, “But God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” I think of the torture and pain that He suffered before and during His crucifixion. I also think of these words that He spoke while He was on the cross, looking down at the people there, ‘Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” But then three days later, He arose, victorious over death and the grave, and this is what Easter is really all about — the hope that we have in His resurrection and life. As I think of Easter as we look at it today, are we truly aware of what it is all about, or have we replaced it with many other things and truly miss the blessings and joy of life that God has for us? Just as Jesus is the real reason for Christmas, so is He the real reason we celebrate Easter. Let us have a real celebration of Easter and remember the love of God is what made it all possible. The Bible says, “But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name.”
