Fair continues

Results of Tuesday’s events released

The 2013 Washington County Fair Beef Heifer Show was held Tuesday afternoon in the show ring at the Washington County Fairgrounds.

Washington County Fair continued Tuesday with pets, sheep, rabbits, beef and the horse and pony show topping the lineup.

The breeding sheep and lamb show was held Tuesday morning. Madison Sheetz of the Keota FFA showed the champion market wether lamb–black face, and Clara Schmitz of Crooked Creek showed the reserve. Sheetz also showed the grand champion market lamb with Raigan Sprouse of 76 Progressives showed the reserve champ. Sheetz was named senior showman, with Bridget Nebel of Washington FFA coming in second. In the Intermediate showmanship class, Hannah Van Roekel of Limecreek Limelights took first place and Sprouse was named reserve champion. In the junior showmanship class, Addison Sprouse of 76 Progressives won the event and Schmitz was named reserve champion.

Addison Sprouse opened the event by winning the champion purebred ewe lamb contest with Van Roekel taking second. Van Roekel won the champion purebred yearling ewe class with Jonah Van Roekel of Kalona Klassics coming in second. Megan Olson of Keota FFA showed the champion commercial ewe lamb and Clara Schmitz of Crooked Creek showed the reserve. Nebel showed the champion commercial yearling ewe (born 2012) and Cooper Sieren of Dutch Creek Flyers showed the reserve. Olson had the supreme champion breeding sheep and Schmitz had the reserve.

Joceline Spenner of Jackson Jets had the champion feeder lambs – pen of 3 and Jameson Spenner of Jackson Jets showed the reserve champions.

Taylor Sublette of Riverside Ramblers won the champion production lamb and Carson Sprouse of 76 Progressives had the reserve. Olson won the champion carcass lamb event and Sheetz was reserve champion.

In the market lambs competition, Kaycee Miller of Limecreek Limelights showed both the champion and reserve animals in the champion market ewe lamb – white/speckle face 1 event. Sprouce showed the champion market ewe lamb – white/speckle face 2 while Hannah Van Roekel showed the reserve.

Sprouce also showed the champion market ewe lamb – black face while Cooper Sieren showed the reserve.

During the horse and pony show, Jennie Greene of Horse and Pony Club won the pole bending competition and Kylee Porter of Washington Go-Getters was the reserve champion. Greene also won the barrel race event, with Chelsea Bowlin of Mid-Prairie FFA named reserve champion.

Felicia Schulty of Mid-Prairie FFA won the champion senior showmanship at halter prize and Spencer Schulty of Mid-Prairie FFA was named reserve champion. Alexandria Gerot of Horse and Pony Club was champion intermediate showmanship at halter and Anna Pence of Horse and Pony Club was the reserve. Georgia Nisly of Horse and Pony Club won the champion junior showmanship at the halter and Madison Ross of Horse and Pony Club was named reserve champion. Mason Wiles of Limecreek Limelights showed the champion halter pony and Baylee Stalder of Prairie Pride showed the reserve. Felicia Schulty of Mid-Prairie FFA showed the champion halter horse and Sarah Hora of Horse and Pony Club showed the reserve.

Lexi Black of Horse and Pony Club won the champion trail performance – level 1 contest and Jessica Schoonover of Horse and Pony Club was reserve champion. In the level 2 event, Spencer Schulty of Mid-Prairie FFA was named champion and Greene was reserve.

Lanie Bowlin of Horse and Pony Club was named champion in the walk-trot first-year member division. In the second year and older class, Greene was named champion and Brandon Kleese of Horse and Pony Club was reserve.

Austin Stalder of Horse and Pony Club won the champion western pleasure-pony level 1 event, with Megan Arps of Horse and Pony Club taking reserve honors. In the level 2 class, Kailey Martin of Horse and Pony Club was named champion and Alexandria Gerot of Horse and Pony Club was reserve.

Kleese won the champion western pleasure – horse level 1 and Nisly was named reserve. In the level 2 class, Felicia Schulty of Mid-Prairie FFA won and Greene got the reserve championship award. Schulty also won the champion western horsemanship level 2 event and Greene was named reserve. In the level 1 event, Black won and Kleese got the reserve award. Arps won the champion English pleasure competition.

During the rabbit show, Megan Miller of Riverside Ramblers won the champion senior showmanship award. Lindsay Palmer of Limecreek Limelights was champion intermediate showman. Grace Hiller of Crooked Creek was champion junior showman.

Miller showed the champion single fryer while Hiller showed the reserve. Michael Witt of Jackson Jets won the champion 4 class rabbit event and Shelly Palmer of Limecreek Limelights got the reserve champion award. Miller showed the grand champion overall rabbit and Witt showed the reserve. Miller also won the champion pen of 3 rabbits event and Lindsey Palmer of Limecreek Limelights got the reserve. Miller showed the champion single fryer and Grace Hiller of Crooked Creek showed the reserve.

During the pet show, A.J. Pegg of Bows and Bullets won the champion pet award and Ryan Friese of Washington Hustlers got the reserve.

At the beef herd show, Riley Sieren of Limecreek Livewires showed the grand champion and reserve grand champion breeding beef. He was also named senior showman with Macy Marek of Jackson Jets getting the reserve senior showmanship award. Kieffer Sexton of Highlanders won the intermediate showman award and Sydney Black of Highlanders was the reserve. Kristine Thomann of Riverside Ramblers won the junior showmanship contest and Conner Shalla of Limecreek Livewires was the reserve.

Joni Erwin of Crooked Creek showed the champion commercial yearling heifer and Sexton showed the reserve.

Sydney Black of Highlanders showed the champion cow with calf and Cole Dallmeyer of Washington Hustlers showed the reserve. Bradley Lampe of Riverside ramblers showed the champion produce of former heifer project and Kyle Dallmeyer of Washington Hustlers showed the reserve. Clara Schmitz of Crooked Creek showed the champion bucket bottle heifer and Logan Harmsen of Limecreek Livewires showed the reserve.

Sieren showed the champion Angus heifer and Chase Stutzman of Limecreek Livewires showed the reserve. Marek showed the champion red Angus yearling and Zoe Wagner of Washington Go-Getters showed the reserve. Chelsey Lampe of Riverside ramblers showed the champion Hereford heifer and Leah Marek of Jackson Jets showed the reserve. Lexi Marek of Jackson Jets showed the champion shorthorn yearling and Isaac Black of Highlanders showed the reserve.

In the shorthorn plus yearling heifer class, Sieren won the champion award and Black was named reserve. Grant Marek of Jackson Jets won the champion charolais yearling event and Lane Welsh of Riverside ramblers was the reserve. Macey Thomann of Riverside Ramblers won the champion Simmental yearling event and Kristine Thomann of Riverside Ramblers got reserve honors. Skyler Juhl of 76 Progressives showed the champion foundation Simmental heifer and Kyle Thomann of Riverside Ramblers showed the reserve.

Connor Eichelberger showed the champion maintainer yearling heifer and Erwin showed the reserve. Sexton showed the champion chianina yearling and Jack Carter of Jackson Jets showed the reserve.
