Fair winds down
The beef show capped off the 4-H and FFA events for the 2013 Washington County Fair Thursday afternoon. Release of livestock, non-livestock entries and a teen dance caps off the events today.
Katie Palmer of Limecreek Limelights won the champion senior/intermediate contest at the bucket bottle calf show Wednesday afternoon. Joceline Spenner won the reserve. In the junior contest, Tori Brush of Washington Go-Getters won the event and Brody Miller of Limecreek Livewires showed the reserve.
Brooke Vanderham, independent member, won the supreme champion dairy heifer class and champion senior dairy showmanship during the dairy cattle show Wednesday. She also won the Holstein breed champion and brown Swiss breed champion classes. Kristine Williams of Crooked Creek showed the reserve champion in the brown Swiss class and Nickolus Roth of Crooked Creek got reserve honors in the Holstein breed class. Kristen Twinam of Prairie Pride won the champion intermediate showmanship trophy and Lona Farrier of Crooked Creek was named champion junior showman.
Spenser Becker of 76 Progressives was named champion senior showman during the Swine Show Wednesday, and Macy Marek of Jackson Jets got the reserve. McKenna Brinning of Prairie Pride won the intermediate showmanship contest and Kylen Anderson of Highlanders was reserve. In the junior showmanship class, Leah Marek of Jackson Jets was named champion and Shae Becker of 76 Progressives was reserve.
Noah Kleese of Bows and Bullets won the champion single source swine contest and Vanessa Moeller of Prairie Pride was reserve champion. In the production barrow class, Bryce Greiner of Dutch Creek Flyers won the event and Victoria Tillery of Highlanders was reserve. Taylor Brinning of Prairie Pride won the champion purebred market swine contest and Kylen Anderson of Highlanders was reserve. Taylor Brinning also won the champion home raised barrow award, with Lauren Sieren of 76 Progressives named reserve. Spenser Becker showed the champion purchased barrow and Callie Greiner of Keota FFA showed the reserve. Spenser Becker also won the overall barrow class and Taylor Brinning was reserve.
McKenna Brinning won the champion home raised market gilt class and Lexi Marek of Jackson Jets got the reserve. Spenser Becker won the purchased market gilt class and Ellie Anderson of Highlanders was reserve. The overall champ was McKenna Brinning with Lexi Marek reserve. Spenser Becker showed the overall grand champion market swine and McKenna Brinning was reserve.
During the market beef show Thursday, Joni Erwin of Crooked Creek was senior showmanship champion and Courtney Shalla of Riverside Ramblers was reserve. McKenna Brinning won the intermediate showmanship honor and Keiffer Sexton was reserve. Jaedynn Evans of Riverside Ramblers won the junior showmanship class and Phelan Hostetler of Limecreek Limelights got reserve.
Shalla won the grand champion market beef class and Josie Wagler of Crooked Creek got reserve. Erwin won the champion produce steer award and Macey Thomann of Riverside Ramblers was reserve. Champion and reserve dairy steer awards went to Drew Blauvelt of Limecreek Livewires. Shalla showed the champion market heifer and Riley Sieren of Limecreek Livewires was reserve. Honors for the champion market steer – bucket bottle calf went to Beau Stutzman of Limecreek Livewires and Emma Leichty of Crooked Creek got the reserve. Jameson Bell of Franklin Cubs showed the champion market heifer – bucket bottle calf and Walker Ikerd of Good Luck had the reserve. Sexton won the champion Angus steer award and Nolan Eubanks of Crooked Creek had the reserve.
Zoe Wagner of Washington Go-Getters won the red Angus market steer class and Nathan Thomann of Limecreek Livewiers was reserve. Trent Megchelsen of Highland Hi-Risers won the Charolais market steer class and Erin Chalupa of 76 Progressives was reserve. Spencer Shalla of Limecreek Livewires won the champion Chianna market steers award and Gaby Wagler of Crooked Creek was reserve. Matthew Leichty of Crooked Creek won the Hereford market steers award and Cole Dallmeyer of Washington Hustlers was reserve.
Morgan Brinning of Prairie Pride won the champion Maine-Anjou market steer contest and Haley Sweeting of Riverside Ramblers was reserve. Brett Walsh of Riverside Ramblers had the champion Simmental steer and Riley Hahn of Limecreek Livewires had the reserve. Lindsay Wide of Highlanders had the champion shorthorn steer.
Morgan Brinning showed the champion shorthorn plus steer and Brett Wright of Good Luck had the reserve. Champion Share-A-Calf was Andrew Campbell of Crooked Creek and Matthew Leichty of Crooked Creek was reserve. Wagler showed the division 1 champion crossbred steer and Evans had the reserve. McKenna Brinning showed the division 2 champion crossbred steer and Wagler showed the reserve. Courtney Shalla of Riverside Ramblers showed the Division 3 champion crossbred steer and Taylor Brinning of Prairie Pride showed the reserve. Kristine Thomann of Riverside Ramblers had the Division 4 champion crossbred steer and Sexton had the reserve.
