Fairfield sweeps Demon seventh-grade girls
The Washington seventh-grade girls’ basketball team suffered three losses to visiting Fairfield in its season opener on Thursday night.
The Washington A team lost to Fairfield 28-17. Brooke Stout had six points, 12 rebounds and two steals to lead the Demons. Morgan Brinning added four points and two rebounds, and Sarah Nacos had three points and three boards. Megan Mitchell and Megan Strabala chipped in two points and a rebound apiece. Allison Vogel contributed three rebounds and a steal, Kristen Twinan pulled down a pair of rebounds, and Reagan Caffery had one rebound.
The Demon B team lost to the Trojans 18-9. Twinem and Jessica Hora scored four points apiece for Washington, and Twinam also pulled down three rebounds. Caffery chipped in one point. Vogel, Jackie Nunez, Kaylee Enfield and Baylee Stalder each grabbed a rebound.
The Washington C team lost to Fairfield 6-2 in a two-quarter contest. Erin Mills scored the only basket of the game for Washington. Tania Melendez pulled down a team-high three rebounds, and Nunez had two. Mills and Mackenzie Beam both chipped in a rebound.
The Washington seventh-grade girls’ basketball team will travel to Burlington on Thursday to take on Edward Stone. The games, which will be played inside the Clark Field House, will begin at 4:30 p.m.
