Fishback racing toward his dreams
Nine year-old Clay Fishback has been racing motocross for the past four years and he has recently started to reap some of the benefits of his dedication.
Fishback got to race at Cowboys’ Stadium in Dallas, Texas as representation of KTM Motocross on Saturday, Feb. 15. He placed second in his division and received all the perks of placing, including being interviewed by the Monster Girls and having his race televised.
To be considered for the race, Fishback had to submit a racing resume, his report card from school, an assessment from his physician and complete an application. Fishback was then selected via a drawing.
The second-grade student is the son of Nathan and Rachel Fishback of Washington. Nathan Fishback says Clay was at a neighbor’s place one day and saw a dirtbike. He took to it naturally and loved racing on one. Nathan and Rachel got him his own bike and since that day, Clay has been racing motocross. Nathan says he has won some races and usually places in the top three or four in his division.
Clay’s current goal is to make it to the Loretta Lynn Amateur Nationals, held Sunday, July 27 through Saturday, Aug. 2 in Hurricane Mills, Tenn. He is currently involved in the qualifications process, for which he will be racing this weekend in Duquoin, Ill. at the Indian Hills Motocross.
