Fiterstein Trio to perform in concert
Alexander Fiterstein, considered of one today's most exceptional clarinet players, brings his trio, which includes Nicholas Canellakis on cello and Steven Beck on piano to Washington at 7:30 p.m. March 7, at the Washington Community Center. This event is sponsored by the Washington Concert Association.
The trio will play a program of classical selections including Brahms Clarinet Trio, 3 Preludes by Gershwin, music from Rigoletto, as well as pieces by Debussy and Schumann.
All three members of the trio have strong credentials. Fiterstein has performed in recital and with major symphony orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout the world. He was awarded a prestigious 2009 Avery Fisher Career Grant.
Cellist Canellakis is a graduate of the Curtis Institute and the New England Conservatory and he is a founding member of the Vertigo String Quartet.
Pianist Beck, a graduate of Juilliard, made his debut with the National Symphony Orchestra and has toured Japan with the New York Symphonic Ensemble.
Fiterstein currently teaches at the University of Minnesota.
