Fleur de Lis Club
Fleur de Lis Club members met at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Linda Birney on Thursday, Oct. 25. Nancy Kimmel, president, presided at a short business meeting. Roll call was answered by members telling of their favorite holiday and why. The secretary-treasurer read the minutes of the last meeting and gave the treasurer’s report.
Linda Birney led a discussion on plans for the 100th anniversary of the club. She shared several notebooks of clippings and pictures she had put together through the years. Also members viewed the recent book of Anita Davis, "Grandma, It’s Beautiful." Anita had given the program at the last meeting in September. Members were reminded to bring their money for the club's Christmas collection to be donated to an organization and decided upon at the next meeting.
Following the meeting, members enjoyed seasonal refreshments around the table and the hostess shared trivia facts, some being new and some never heard of before.
The next meeting will be the club's 100th anniversary celebration at the home of Marie Hora at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 15, 2012, with former members as invited guests. This was the home where the first meeting of the club was held.
